Iranian-American women have defied the limits of being a double minority to succeed in myriad arenas, from science and technology, to art and culture, to business and law. South Florida has been fortunate to benefit from many of those successful Iranian-American Women. Iranian American Foundation (IAF) would like to recognize and celebrate the distinguished Iranian-American Women in South Florida.


Iranian American Foundation is proud to celebrate the recipients of its’ inaugural
Distinguished Iranian American Women in South Florida.
These women have made our community proud with their outstanding performance in their respective fields.
They are considered role models for the younger generation of Iranian-American living in South Florida.
Nominated by the community and selected by a voting committee, here are this year’s recipients in the following categories:
Business: Zhaleh Emami (Owner and operating manager at Rugs by Zhaleh)
Art: Raheleh Filsoofi ( Assistant Professor of Art at the University of Texas)
Government: Nushin G. Sayfie (Cicuit Court Judge, Administrative Judge Criminal Division)
Civic Activity: Mojdeh Khaghan (Vice Chair, Public Health Trust of Jackson Health System and Vice Commissioner, housing authority
Community Service: Jila Rezaie, Executive Director of Miami Community Schools
Cultural Advocacy: Azita Sahebjam, Director of Vancouver Pars National Ballet
Life Time Achievement Award: Mahmehr Golestaneh, artist, Poet and community organizer
